Saed News: The transregional newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi described the Abraham Accords as a pre-failed plan that has been removed from the agenda of Arab countries.
According to SAEDNEWS, the Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper published a report titled “Trump Failed to Impose the Expansion of the ‘Abraham Accords’ During Negotiations with Iran,” stating that regional reality shows many Arab countries do not prioritize normalization, especially with the ongoing war in Gaza and the absence of any real progress toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.
According to the report, during contacts Trump made with the leaders of several Arab and Islamic countries, he attempted to advance the accession of new countries to these agreements as part of broader arrangements linked to US-Iran negotiations. However, this initiative did not receive a significant response and was met either with silence or direct rejection.
Al-Quds Al-Arabi pointed to Pakistan’s firm stance in this regard, writing that Pakistan took a more explicit position; Khawaja Asif, the country’s Defense Minister, emphasized that joining the Abraham Accords contradicts the fundamental principles of Pakistan’s policy and denied any official inclination toward normalizing relations with Israel.
According to the report, experts believe that the Abraham Accords, which Trump’s first administration promoted as a project to reshape the region, have not succeeded in achieving their intended goals.
Al-Quds Al-Arabi considered the Gaza war a severe blow to the accords, writing that Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has dealt a major setback to the normalization process, as it has brought the Palestinian issue back to the center of public and political attention in the region and forced several governments to pause or slow any steps toward expanding relations with Israel.
