Saed News: The tayra, which is one of the lesser-known members of the weasel family, lives from southern Mexico to large parts of Central and South America, with forests and wooded areas as its main habitat.
According to SAEDNEWS, this animal has an elongated and slender body, a bushy tail, and dark fur, usually with a lighter patch on its throat or chest—an appearance that makes it resemble a mix between a marten and a small otter.
Unlike strictly carnivorous predators, the tayra is an opportunistic omnivore, feeding on fruits, insects, small vertebrates, carrion, and even honey—an adaptability that allows it to thrive in diverse habitats.
This animal is mostly active during the day, moves easily both on the ground and in trees, and is known for its speed, curiosity, and boldness.
