President Orders Measures to Streamline Import of Basic Goods via Border Crossings

According to SAEDNEWS, The decisions were made during a Monday meeting attended by the president, economic ministers, and governors of border provinces, held at the Central Bank of Iran.

The session focused on addressing operational barriers in the exchange and supply of goods through border provinces.

Pezeshkian referred to the special responsibility entrusted to governors of border provinces in ensuring the supply of essential goods, noting that the required authorities in this area had been delegated to them and that objections raised by the Parliament had been resolved.

The president noted that wherever additional authority was deemed necessary for effective implementation, such powers were transferred to governors through clearly defined responsibilities. This included specifying import volumes for goods and livestock feed in proportion to domestic production levels.

The president stressed that the implementation of this approach would neutralize a significant portion of the pressure caused by unjust sanctions imposed with the aim of undermining people’s livelihoods.

Pezeshkian further emphasized that governors would be authorized not only to import basic commodities but also any goods directly linked to people’s livelihoods and required by the market, saying this would help balance supply and demand while preventing hoarding and disruptions in the distribution system.
