SaedNews: Hot air ballooning was one of the strange pastimes in Tehran during the Qajar era.
According to the history section of SaedNews, there is a photo from the year 1273 in the Persian calendar (1894) in historical archives, showing an American's hot air balloon launch in Tehran. This photo was published in the archive of the National Documents Department with the caption, "The balloon launched by Monsieur (an American) in the year 1312 Hijri." Ballooning in Tehran was one of the peculiar pastimes of the Qajar era, and Naser al-Din Shah Qajar also mentioned hot air ballooning in his daily diaries.
