Germany alone accounts for 85,642 of the recalled cars. The affected brands include Opel, Peugeot, Fiat, Citroën, DS, Lancia, and Alfa Romeo.
The recall was prompted by a potentially dangerous defect in the fuel system. According to Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the connections between the high-pressure fuel line and the fuel rail were not properly tightened. This flaw could result in fuel leaks near hot engine components, creating a severe fire hazard.
As of June 17, 2025, the KBA database shows 11 fires linked to the faulty connections, highlighting the seriousness of the recall. While no fatalities have been reported, automotive experts stress that even a minor leak can rapidly escalate into a life-threatening situation if the fuel ignites.
“Vehicle owners must respond immediately to the recall notice,” the KBA emphasized. Stellantis has confirmed that affected vehicles will undergo thorough inspection at authorized workshops, where technicians will securely tighten all fuel connections.
