Speaking at a joint press conference with his Belarusian counterpart, Maxim Ryzhenkov, in Minsk on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said relations between Iran and Belarus are moving along a very positive path.

Araqchi noted that since Belarus gained independence, bilateral ties have remained warm and friendly, founded on mutual interests and mutual respect, adding that both sides are determined to continue along this course.

He said Iran and Belarus share common positions on international and global issues, cooperate closely in numerous international forums, and hold similar views on regional developments.

The Iranian foreign minister also expressed appreciation for Belarus’s condemnation of Israeli and US aggression against Iran, as well as for the Belarusian people’s expressions of solidarity and support for the Iranian nation.

Araqchi emphasized that Iran prioritizes the expansion of relations with independent countries and those interested in constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation, adding that Belarus occupies a special place among such partners. He stressed that Tehran is determined to utilize all existing capacities in both countries to advance the interests of the two nations.

He further noted that Iran and Belarus cooperate within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, and are resolved to make full use of the potential of these regional and international bodies to serve their shared interests.

Referring to the unjust, unilateral, and illegal sanctions imposed by Western countries on both nations, Araqchi said Iran and Belarus work together in international organizations to counter unilateral coercive measures and confront illegal sanctions.

Araqchi added that the two sides held very constructive talks and agreed on a one-year roadmap for bilateral cooperation, outlining concrete steps to better utilize existing capacities, particularly in economic relations and overall bilateral ties.
