Incredible Orchid Pollination Mechanism

According to the Saed News Family Magazine service, the orchid flower is widely known around the world for its beauty and diversity and is one of the largest plant families on Earth. There are between 25,000 and 30,000 different species of orchids, of which at least 10,000 can be found in tropical regions. The different species of this plant can vary greatly in size, weight, and color. While some may be only the size of a hand when in bloom, others may reach up to 30 inches in height with a single petal. The blossoms of this flower can appear in almost every imaginable color except black.

These plants release a pollen capsule quickly and precisely when an insect such as a honeybee touches certain parts of the flower, firing it toward the visitor. This “shot” is so efficient that the pollen remains attached to the insect, ensuring it is carried to another flower for pollination.
