SAEDNEWS: Cheese is one of the main foods for Iranians at breakfast and dinner. Storing cheese is one of the trickiest tasks. In this article, we explain how to properly store your cheese.
Softer cheeses have a shorter shelf life compared to harder cheeses. Hard cheeses, such as white cheese and Swiss cheese, can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 weeks after opening. Soft cheeses, like high-fat cheeses, can only be kept in the fridge for about a week. To ensure your cheese is still good, you can check the production date. But the best method is to inspect it carefully—look for any signs of mold.
Cheese holds an important place in our diet. It appears on breakfast tables or alongside watermelon and melon in summer snacks. In fact, almost every refrigerator has some form of cheese. Families who consume cheese regularly often buy larger quantities and store them in the fridge. Over time, cheese can become soft and misshapen from the area where it was cut—but there are clever ways to prevent this.
To stop cheese from becoming soft or deformed, simply spread a very thin layer of butter on the cut surface. Make sure the butter covers the entire area.

If you’re not fond of the taste of butter, there’s another simple solution for storing cheese: wrap it completely in parchment paper, place it in a glass or plastic container, and store it in the refrigerator.
You can also extend the shelf life of cheese before refrigerating it. Remove the tight plastic wrap and place the cheese in wax paper, covering it completely to protect it.
