Turkey’s Strong Reaction to Trump’s Hostile Moves in the Persian Gulf: A Defiant Statement from a Senior Turkish Official

According to Saed News’ political desk, citing Anadolu Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the remarks in an interview with Al Jazeera Qatar. He said he has consistently advised U.S. officials to resolve issues with Iran one by one—starting with the nuclear file and then moving on to other matters.

“If all issues are raised at once, it becomes very difficult for our Iranian friends to digest and manage,” Fidan said. “It can even appear humiliating and be hard to explain to public opinion and the leadership. If the issues are made more manageable, the process can be beneficial.”

Responding to a question about Iran’s place in the new regional order, Fidan said Iran could be in a very strong position. “Regardless of the current situation, Iran has capacities and capabilities it can make use of,” he noted.

Recalling his visit to Iran two months ago, Fidan said he spoke candidly with Iranian officials and stressed the importance of confidence-building in the region. He emphasized that Iran should be mindful of how it is perceived by neighboring countries. “Neither they are going anywhere nor are we,” he said. “Within the framework of the nation-state system, despite all ideological, political, and religious differences, we must know how to cooperate and work together.”

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Fidan held a phone call with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss recent regional developments. The two sides reviewed efforts to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation of the crisis in the region.
