The presence of plentiful lakes and, of course, the Caspian Sea near the northern cities has made it a favorite pastime for tourists and fishing enthusiasts. Join us as we introduce some of the best fishing spots in the north.
According to SAEDNEWS, Northern Iran, a land rich in natural beauty, has always been an attractive destination for tourists. However, this region is also considered a true paradise for fishing enthusiasts. From the shores of the Caspian Sea to the rushing rivers and peaceful lakes, there is an unparalleled variety of fishing spots in northern Iran.
Most local fishermen from Behshahr choose the Miankaleh Lagoon for fishing, striving to catch their main catch from this region. Miankaleh Lagoon, one of the most famous wetlands in Mazandaran, is located in the southeast of the Caspian Sea, 12 kilometers north of Behshahr. It is an excellent spot for catching carp, mullet, and sturgeon fish.
Eynak Lagoon is one of the popular attractions of Rasht, and unlike other wetlands, it is not found in nature but rather in the alleys and byways of the city. This is why it is considered the largest urban lagoon in Iran. The Eynak Lagoon, with an area of 44 hectares of water, is located near Daneshjoo Park. In aerial photos, the lagoon resembles a pair of glasses, which is why it is named Eynak (meaning "glasses" in Persian).
The name Fuman often brings to mind fragrant, sweet cookies and streets lined with towering trees. This northern city, although lacking a coastline and sea, offers a pristine and unique green landscape that refreshes the soul of every traveler. It might surprise you to know that one of the best places for fishing in the north is Fuman.
Though the city is without a sea, it is close to several large rivers, such as the Siyah Darvishan River, which flows down from the heights of Qaleh Rudkhan. The Siyah Darvishan eventually drains into Anzali Lagoon, but along its course, it tempts many fishermen with the promise of exciting catches.
Alimalat Lake and its surrounding nature are the kind of attractions you’ve probably only seen in social media posts or on old postcards. Located on the route from Noor to Chamestan, part of the access path to the lake passes through forests and towering trees. In fact, Alimalat Lake is situated right in the heart of the forest, surrounded by trees on all sides.
Once you reach the lake, you can enjoy the pristine nature around you or engage in photography of the breathtaking scenery. Near this tourist attraction, several facilities are available for travelers, such as parking, restaurants, shops, restrooms, a small amusement park, and pavilions. This lake is also one of the most popular spots for boating and fishing in northern Iran. Fish species like carp, amur, and trout are among the most famous fish in Alimalat Lake.
