According to the Politics Desk of Saed News, while tensions between Iran and the United States over regional issues, including the U.S. military presence in the Persian Gulf, are increasing, Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared a photo of himself on Hormuz Island.

On his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Baghaei wrote: “The Pearl of the Persian Gulf: Hormuz Island, overlooking the strategic Strait of Hormuz – Wednesday, January 27, 2026.”

In the image, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson is seen wearing casual clothes and sunglasses, standing atop the red soil of Hormuz Island. In the background, a wide view of the sea is visible, along with several commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, reflecting normal activity in southern Iran.

The release of this photo comes amid recent U.S. statements about strengthening military presence in the region and potential threats of military action. Many political observers interpret Baghaei’s visit as a meaningful presence and a signal of Iran’s determination to defend its sovereignty over the strategically crucial Hormuz waterway.

Hormuz Island, due to its unique geographic location, offers a direct strategic view of the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20 percent of global oil trade passes.
