SAEDNEWS: If You’re Looking for a Way to Fertilize Your Plants Without Spending Much, We Recommend Using Banana Peels
According to Saed News, if you are looking for a way to make fertilizer for your plants without spending a lot, we recommend using banana peels. Instead of throwing banana peels away, it is better to use them in your garden or pots to strengthen your plants. Did you know that banana peels are one of the best fertilizers for plants?
Banana peels are a rich source of nutrients needed by your plants, including potassium, phosphorus, and calcium, along with other minerals essential for plant growth. Before adding banana peels to the soil, remove their labels. This article suggests several ways to use banana peels as fertilizer.
Like compost tea, this fertilizer provides nutrients from banana peels to your plants, helping them grow stronger. To make it, fill a container with water, place the banana peels inside, and let them sit for 48 hours.
After two days, discard the peels and keep the water. Water your plants as usual using this enriched liquid.
Chop the banana peels and then add them directly to your garden soil. If you have already made banana peel tea, use the leftover peels this way. Make sure to add them directly to your garden or pot soil.
To do this, cut the peels into pieces about 0.5–1 cm in size. Chopping them starts the composting process and releases some of the beneficial vitamins and minerals in the peels.
Bury the chopped banana peels about 10 cm deep in the soil. If you prefer to bury them only a few centimeters deep, it’s better to do this before planting vegetables in that area. If you add banana peels to the soil after planting, be careful not to damage the plant roots. As the banana peels decompose, all the valuable vitamins are delivered to the roots, providing essential nutrients to the plants.
If you have only a small amount of banana peel, this method is excellent. Dry the peels and then grind them into a powder. Add this powder directly to the soil and mix it in, being careful not to harm the plant roots. Alternatively, you can sprinkle it on the soil surface and water it in.

A highly effective and direct way to use banana peels is to place a whole peel in the soil when planting seeds. When seeds have enough nutrients during their early growth stages, they develop into healthier plants with better yields.
When planting seeds, open the soil and place the banana peel in it. Then place the seed on top of the peel and cover both with soil. As the seeds germinate, form roots, and continue to grow, the peels decompose and create a rich fertilizer.
If your plants are already large and you just want to strengthen them, it’s better to make a liquid fertilizer and spray it on the plants. To make this fertilizer, you will need banana peels, eggshells, and Epsom salt. Using this method, there’s no need to put banana peels directly in the soil, reducing the risk of damaging roots.
Dry the banana peels and eggshells, then grind them. Place the ground mixture along with Epsom salt into a spray bottle and add water. Spray this mixture on your plants as needed.
