Earlier in the week, Hamas had confirmed that Israel’s assassination attempt on members of its negotiating team in Doha had failed. However, the strike did claim the lives of several members of Hamas’ leadership office in the Qatari capital.
Hamas characterized the attack as a heavy bombardment by the “Israeli regime,” highlighting the persistence of tensions and ongoing hostilities between the two sides. Al-Hayya’s presence at the funeral signals the survival of one of Hamas’ senior leaders despite the high-profile targeting.
