The World’s Highest Swimming Pool: Discover Singapore’s Iconic Sky-High Pool

According to Saednews, If you are planning a trip to Singapore and want to swim in one of the world’s highest swimming pools, first test yourself: Would you feel terrified or dizzy looking down from the top of a 55-story building?

Join us on a virtual tour of Singapore and discover the spectacular rooftop swimming pool at Marina Bay Sands, one of the city’s most iconic luxury hotels.

Discover One of the World’s Highest Rooftop Swimming Pools

The world’s highest open-air swimming pool is three times the width of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. It sits atop three magnificent towers that form the luxurious Marina Bay Sands hotel, a landmark development valued at approximately £4 billion.

As shown in the photographs, the pool resembles a giant boat resting on the Sands SkyPark, the spectacular rooftop complex connecting the three towers.

Swimming in this pool is not as frightening as it might seem. Although the edge creates the illusion of a steep drop, the water flows into a collection channel below and is then pumped back into the pool. This ingenious design prevents swimmers from falling over the edge.

The Luxury of Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Marina Bay Sands features 2,560 rooms, with a reported nightly rate of around £350 for a room. The hotel officially opened in 2010 with a concert by Diana Ross.

When the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi opened in 2004, it was considered one of the world’s most expensive hotels, with an estimated value of approximately £2 billion.

However, architect Moshe Safdie subsequently designed Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, incorporating an extraordinary swimming pool, innovative modern architecture, luxury shopping facilities, a convention center, a theater, a glass pavilion, and a museum shaped like a lotus flower. The impressive development soon became renowned as one of the world’s most expensive and luxurious hotel complexes.

A Rooftop Platform Longer Than the Eiffel Tower Is Tall

The platform supporting the rooftop pool is longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall, making it one of the world’s most remarkable elevated structures. It is so extensive that walking from one end to the other takes approximately 20 minutes.

While swimming in the pool, visitors can feel as though the water stretches endlessly toward the sky and the distant horizon. This breathtaking visual effect is a testament to the remarkable engineering behind the structure.

The pool complex uses two water-circulation systems. The first operates like a conventional swimming pool system, filtering and heating the water. The second is located beneath the pool’s edge, where overflowing water collects before passing through a metal grate. The water is filtered again and pumped back into the upper pool.

Walking from one end of the rooftop platform to the other takes approximately 20 minutes.

Traditional Chinese Boats Inside the Hotel

Inside Marina Bay Sands, visitors can take a ride along a beautiful indoor canal in sampan boats inspired by traditional Chinese vessels from the 17th century.

Impressive Art and Interior Design

The hotel’s interior was designed with contributions from five renowned artists, creating a harmonious relationship between its interior spaces and striking exterior architecture.

One of the most impressive installations is a 40-meter-tall sculpture by renowned artist Antony Gormley. Made from 16,100 steel rods, the sculpture weighs 14.8 tonnes. Approximately 60 people helped install this remarkable artwork inside the hotel.

Another artist, Chang Bin Zheng, created a work called Growing Forest, consisting of 83 large, three-meter-tall planters containing trees. The planters were so enormous that the artist had to construct a kiln almost the size of a small building to manufacture them.

A Major Tourist Attraction in Singapore

The complex employs approximately 10,000 people and generates an estimated £48 million in annual revenue. Before the development opened, its chairman and chief executive, Thomas Arasi, predicted that around 70,000 people would visit the complex each day.

Marina Bay Sands has since become one of Singapore’s most recognizable landmarks, attracting visitors from around the world with its distinctive architecture, luxury amenities, shopping, entertainment, and spectacular rooftop views.
