SAEDNEWS: Mehran Border Sees Annual Exports Worth Approximately $1.5 Billion
According to Saednews, Ahmad Karami, speaking at a ceremony marking World Standards Day on Sunday, said Ilam Province could expand its presence in lucrative export markets by leveraging the strategic location of the Mehran International Border Crossing and its extensive production capacities.
He said more than 2.5 million tons of goods are transited and transported through the border crossing annually, stressing that compliance with production and export standards is essential to maintaining the reputation and credibility of Iranian products in target markets.
Karami highlighted the importance of standards in safeguarding consumer rights, noting that ensuring the accuracy of weights and measurements is a key responsibility of the standards sector. He explained that even a shortfall of a few grams in a product could violate the rights of a large number of consumers when multiplied across high production and supply volumes.
He also stressed the need for continuous inspections of construction materials, elevators and amusement park equipment, emphasizing that compliance with standards in these areas is directly linked to public safety and health. He added that regular and ongoing inspections are essential to ensuring compliance.
