SAEDNEWS: Mahrian Gorge, located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, is a popular year-round destination known for its cool mountainous climate, turquoise river, and the sacred shrine of Imamzadeh Shah Hassan.
According to Saednews, Mehrian is a village in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, located in the Central District of Boyer-Ahmad County, within the Sarroud-e Shomali Rural District.
The village has an average elevation of about 1,850 meters above sea level. Geographically, it is surrounded by the Mehrian River to the east and the Dena Mountains to the north.
In fact, Mehrian is a mountain-foot plain whose climate is shaped by three main natural elements: mountains, plains, and rivers. With its cool and humid mountainous climate, the area offers one of the country's most pleasant natural environments for living.
Here, a river winds and curves through a relatively shallow valley, its waters blending shades of green and turquoise. It resembles a gently flowing green carpet spread across the landscape. Beautiful trees lean toward the river, seemingly like admirers gathered to pay tribute to this turquoise landscape.
The average elevation of Mehrian Village is approximately 1,850 meters above sea level. The area is also home to the Imamzadeh Shah Hassan shrine, which welcomes pilgrims and visitors.

In this area, trees grow in unusual, twisted forms beside one another. Snowmelt originating in the Kakan region follows a course separate from the Mehrian River.
The gorge is characterized by a diverse range of trees, including poplars, oak, maple, plane trees, pine, wild grape, and Persian turpentine trees.
Mehrian Gorge is also visited by skiing enthusiasts during winter. During this season, a large mass of ice forms on a rock opposite the Imamzadeh Hassan shrine. Around the sixtieth day of winter, the ice begins to break, and by approximately the seventieth day—around March 1—the mass can collapse from the cliff with a sound audible for kilometers, heralding the arrival of spring.
In spring and summer, Mehrian Gorge attracts many tourists. The clear waters of the Mehrian River, part of which originates from springs in the area known as Kabootari Gorge, eventually flow into the Bashar River near Yasuj and then into the Karun River in Khuzestan Province.
The natural beauty of this attraction can hardly be overstated. Countless picturesque landscapes unfold before visitors, with diverse colors and forms creating a lasting image of nature's beauty in the mind of every traveler.
Several fish-farming facilities are also located within Mehrian Gorge, providing an additional attraction for visitors.
