SAEDNEWS: Sepah Mountain Park is located on Mount Soffeh in the southern part of Isfahan, just south of the intersection of Shahid Aghareb-Parast and Shohada-e Soffeh Expressways, making it very easy to access.
According to Saednews, The highest point of this mountain range reaches an elevation of 2,257 meters. Mount Sofeh is bordered to the north by the ring road, to the west by Takht-e Rostam Mountain and Khan Valley, to the east by residential complexes and housing developments, and to the south by open land and the railway.
Due to its excellent location within the city and its commanding views over the river and the lush Zayandeh Rud plain, Mount Sofeh enjoys exceptional and unique conditions. From the perspectives of urban scenery, environmental design, and tourism development, the area holds considerable importance.
One of the most prominent features of the Sofeh mountain range is the presence of massive, towering rock formations scattered throughout the area. These formations provide excellent opportunities for technical mountaineering and rock-climbing training, creating strong potential for the further development of climbing activities in Isfahan.
In recent years, conditions for mountaineering activities have improved to some extent. The former Khachik Café was converted into a shelter and mountaineering base, while several difficult routes were modified and improved.
One of the most famous landmarks on Mount Sofeh is Shahdezh Fortress, also known as Shah Dez or the “Devil’s Castle.” The fortress is considered the central historical feature of Sofeh Mountain Park. The springs in the area, including Pachenar and Khajik Springs, are regarded as the heart of the complex. Surrounded by ancient trees, these springs add a distinctive natural beauty to the landscape.
Approximately 100 meters east of Pachenar Spring, at an elevation of about 1,900 meters, lies Darvish Spring. It is one of the scenic attractions of Mount Sofeh and is considered one of the mountain’s traditional recreational spots.
The spring is located inside a large rocky hollow surrounded by water and greenery. Its convenient location and peaceful setting make it an attractive place for visitors to rest and enjoy the natural surroundings of Mount Sofeh.
Chah-e Darvish Spring is located at an elevation of approximately 1,800 meters, about 700 meters from Darvish Spring. Because the spring lies at a lower level than the surrounding terrain, its water never flows outward. During periods when Pachenar and Darvish Springs dry up, this spring also contains only a small amount of water, sometimes not enough to fill a single container.
Because the spring is situated in limestone terrain, some mountaineers also refer to it as Gypsum Spring.
The Sofeh Cable Car is one of the major attractions of Sofeh Mountain Park and consists of two lines.
The first line runs from Shohada-ye Sofeh Highway to Gardaneh Bad Pass. It is approximately 1,850 meters long and operates with 50 four-person cabins, offering visitors access to the summit and panoramic views of Isfahan.
The landscapes along the route—including Shahdezh Fortress, the surrounding city, and the scenic Gardaneh Bad gorge—are among its main attractions. The second line runs from Gardaneh Bad toward Shahdezh Peak, covering approximately 650 meters and supported by six intermediate towers.
Shandiz Restaurant is one of the branches of the well-known Shandiz restaurant chain from Mashhad. The restaurant was established on Mount Sofeh, taking advantage of its distinctive location.
Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Isfahan from the restaurant. Whether the weather is cloudy, rainy, or sunny, the cityscape remains a striking feature visible through the restaurant’s windows.
The complex includes dedicated areas for a restaurant, café, and traditional dining house.
