This castle, located east of Neyriz, was built by the British. It is currently situated on Nasr Boulevard and is in a state of deterioration, with little attention from the Cultural Heritage Organization. It should be noted that the first telegraph and Morse communication lines in Neyriz were established by the British at this same location.

It is said that the castle was built about 100 years ago using local labor.

Palangan Spring in Neyriz

Palangan Spring is located in Neyriz in Fars Province. It originates from the slopes of Mount Sultan Shahbaz, about 20 kilometers southwest of Neyriz, and supplies water to fig, pomegranate, and almond orchards around the city, contributing to the prosperity of the Palangan recreational area.

The Palangan region welcomes tourists, especially in spring and summer, and is the main recreational site for residents of Neyriz, particularly on the 13th day of Farvardin each year (Nature Day).

Bid Bakhun is located about 5 kilometers south of Neyriz. It is known for three ancient plane trees and a spring called Yaghouti Spring. Around this area, fig, wild pistachio, almond, and wild almond trees can also be found.

The name comes from winds blowing toward the trees, locally called “Bid Bakhan,” which became known as Bid Bakhun.

Grand Mosque of Neyriz

The Grand Mosque of Neyriz is one of the oldest mosques in Iran and is believed by some to have originally been a Zoroastrian fire temple later converted into a mosque during the Islamic period. Its surviving iwans reflect Sassanid architectural style. It was registered as a national heritage site of Iran on August 9, 1933.

Neyriz has a long historical background in Fars Province and contains valuable monuments from different historical periods, especially religious buildings from the early Islamic centuries.

The Grand Mosque of Neyriz is considered one of the oldest mosques in Iran, influenced by Sassanid architecture with a single-iwan design. Over time, various additions and repairs have been made, making it a significant example of Iranian architectural evolution.

Its stucco inscriptions include religious themes praising the Prophet and Shiite Imams, reflecting the beliefs of its founders.

Some historians believe it may have been built on the site of a Zoroastrian fire temple, though this remains uncertain. The earliest dated inscription in the mosque is from 363 AH.

French archaeologist André Godard conducted important research on the mosque in the early 20th century.

Smaller Mosque of Neyriz (Bazaar Mosque)

Also known as the Imam Khomeini Mosque, its exact construction date is unknown. Some sources suggest 68 AH, though this is unlikely. Others suggest 733 AH. A stone inscription once recorded the date 840 AH.

The mosque contained historical inscriptions, including decrees from Shah Tahmasp I and records from the time of Naser al-Din Shah. It was later restored by a person named Kolu Yaqoub Qassab.
