SAEDNEWS: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that Kyiv will provide its international partners with intelligence regarding alleged cooperation between Russia and Iran.
According to Saednews report, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X on Saturday night that he would instruct Ukraine's intelligence agencies to share information with international partners regarding what he described as new Russian assistance to Iran.
Zelenskyy claimed that since the beginning of July, Ukraine has documented active Russian satellite surveillance of Gulf countries and U.S. military installations in the region. According to him, these satellite images later appeared in Iran. He further alleged that there is a clear connection between Russian satellite imagery of these locations and Iranian attacks, both before the strikes to assist with planning and afterward to assess the extent of the damage.
The Ukrainian president also asserted that on July 19 and 20, Russian satellites focused on four air bases: two in Bahrain, one in Jordan, and one in Kuwait. He argued that the objective was evident and warned that the international community should not ignore what he described as Russia's role in escalating conflict. Zelenskyy said Russia must be stopped, the war must end, and pressure on the aggressor must be effective.
Meanwhile, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned what it described as an attack by the Ukrainian government on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea during the early hours of Saturday, August 25 (according to the Iranian calendar). The ministry stated that the attack caused an explosion aboard the ship, killing one sailor and injuring another.
The ministry characterized the incident as a violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and described it as an act of aggression that could further intensify and expand the conflict.
Iran reiterated that it has never intervened in the Russia–Ukraine conflict and called on the United Nations Security Council, European countries, and all UN member states to recognize that, by attacking an Iranian commercial vessel, Ukraine had not only committed what Tehran considers an internationally wrongful act but had also taken a dangerous step toward widening the conflict and increasing regional insecurity.
Following the incident, Iran summoned Ukraine's acting chargé d'affaires in Tehran. During the meeting, Manouchehr Moradi, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General for Eurasian Affairs, formally conveyed Iran's strong protest over what it described as a hostile and criminal act.
Iranian officials told the Ukrainian diplomat that the attack on the commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea violated the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, constituted an act of aggression, and posed a direct threat to the security of all Caspian littoral states. They also stated that Ukraine must be held accountable and that those responsible for the attack should be punished.
Iran further emphasized that it would firmly defend its national security and interests and would not leave any attack on the lives or property of its citizens unanswered.
