SAEDNEWS: We remember the luxurious Titanic dining scene from the movie, but a real Titanic menu card shows what first-class passengers actually had for dinner. It will be auctioned on November 11.
According to SaedNews, citing KhabarOnline, this menu featured a selection of appetizers, including oysters and asparagus soup. For the main course, passengers could choose from options such as Dutch salmon, fillet of beef with Victoria sauce, pigeon with gadar sauce, sirloin steak, lamb roll, and duck. For dessert, they could select from apricot tart, Victoria pudding, and French ice cream.
This unique menu, measuring only 11 by 16 centimeters, is believed to be the only surviving example of its kind. It is scheduled to be auctioned among Titanic memorabilia at Henry Aldridge & Son auction house in Devizes, Britain. Its estimated value is between £60,000 and £70,000 (around €80,000).
The menu card, which was recovered with items from the sunken ship, belonged to the dinner served on the first night of the passengers’ voyage, on April 11, 1912.
