How to Make Homemade French Croissants
To make these delicious homemade croissants, first crack the egg into a bowl. Add lukewarm milk, yeast powder, sugar, and salt, then mix well until all ingredients are combined.
Gradually add the flour while mixing until the ingredients form a soft dough. Remove the dough from the bowl and knead it on a work surface for about 8 minutes.
Next, spread the softened butter over the dough and knead it until the butter is fully incorporated. Continue kneading for another 2 minutes.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes. After resting, divide the dough into 60-gram portions. This amount will make approximately 9 dough balls. Cover them again and allow them to rest for another 15 minutes.
Sprinkle some flour on the work surface and roll each dough ball into a circle about 20 centimeters in diameter.
Sprinkle some flour on the bottom of a tray or plate, place the rolled dough circle inside, and spread a layer of softened butter over it.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough pieces, placing each circle on top of the previous one and spreading butter between every layer to create a laminated dough structure.
Cover the dough layers with plastic wrap. Place them in the freezer for 15 minutes, then transfer them to the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
After chilling, remove the dough from the refrigerator and carefully place it on a floured work surface.

Gently press the dough with your hands, then use a rolling pin to shape it into a large circle about 45 centimeters in diameter.
Cut the circle into 12 equal triangle-shaped sections, similar to pizza slices.
Place a small amount of chocolate chips or chocolate pieces at the wide end of each triangle. Roll each piece gently from the wide side toward the pointed end to create the classic croissant shape.
Arrange the prepared croissants on a baking tray and brush them with egg yolk.
Cover the tray with plastic wrap and allow the croissants to rest for another hour until they become larger and lighter.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 20 minutes, or until golden and fully cooked.
Your delicious homemade chocolate croissants are now ready to serve. Enjoy the classic French pastry experience, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack.
