SAEDNEWS: Crypto Billionaire Chang Wang Selected to Lead SpaceX’s First Crewed Mission to Mars
According to the university news service of SaedNews, crypto billionaire Chang Wang has embarked on a journey around the Moon and Mars aboard SpaceX’s Starship. Although the planned V3 rocket launch did not take place on Thursday, the mission was successfully completed the following day.

During a live broadcast of the event, SpaceX aired a video featuring Chang Wang, a cryptocurrency billionaire and citizen astronaut. Speaking from an island in the South Atlantic Ocean, Wang announced that he would travel aboard Starship and pass near both the Moon and Mars.
SpaceX has not yet announced an exact launch date for the mission, but it is likely to become the first interplanetary spaceflight carrying humans.
Wang is one of the co-founders of the F2Pool mining pool in China and has accumulated significant wealth through cryptocurrency investments. He describes himself as a “full-time space traveler” and has shown strong interest in commercial spaceflight in recent years.
The Chinese billionaire has traveled to space before and served as commander of SpaceX’s Fram2 mission. He also financed a mission that sent four private astronauts on a three-day journey around Earth’s polar regions for the first time. The crew launched into space aboard a Crew Dragon capsule and a Falcon 9 rocket on March 31, 2025.
Chang Wang’s upcoming mission is far more ambitious and is expected to last around two years. However, Wang says he is not concerned about the long duration of the journey.
In a previous interview, he said:
“I even enjoy looking at the Earth’s scenery from takeoff to landing when I fly on a plane, and I enjoy the journey itself.”
