Saed News: A Dutch company is working toward achieving the first concept of childbirth in space.
According to SAEDNEWS, citing Tabnak, the Dutch company aims to reach the first concept of childbirth in space—meaning the creation of embryos and newborns on other planets—and is planning for this over several years.
Dr. Edelbroek said it is important for Earth and humanity to become multi-planetary, so humans can also live on other planets. If human progress and settlements on other planets are to be achieved, reproduction challenges will also arise.
Giving birth in space will face many challenges. While the adult human body can tolerate some harsh conditions on other planets, an embryo is far more vulnerable. Therefore, a safe and suitable environment must first be created for embryo development.
Given the genetic similarity between mice and humans, the company is initially conducting experiments on mice to reduce potential risks. It has also developed a disc (plate) that mixes cells together to produce a living embryo.
