SAEDNEWS: Pakistan’s Interior Minister said that significant progress was achieved during his visit to Tehran, describing the meeting as highly positive. He expressed hope that the talks would help pave the way for further progress and contribute to lasting peace in the region.
According to the political affairs desk of SaedNews, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with the chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan in Islamabad after returning from Tehran, where he had held talks alongside Pakistan’s army chief aimed at easing tensions with Washington.
According to Al Jazeera, cited by Fararu, Pakistan’s Interior Ministry said the two officials discussed the “overall regional situation and issues related to peace and stability.”
On Monday, Naqvi accompanied General Asim Munir to Iran, where the army chief has been directly involved in mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran.
Naqvi said that “significant progress” had been made and described the visit as concluding with “very positive outcomes.” He added that Islamabad remained hopeful the process would help pave the way for further progress and lasting peace in the region.
Iran also described General Munir’s visit to Tehran as “highly productive,” saying it resulted in “significant diplomatic achievements.”
