SAEDNEWS: Iran's foreign minister said any cooperation with countries attacking Iran is unacceptable and amounts to an act of aggression under international law, during talks with his British counterpart.
According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the United Kingdom to review its recent policies toward Tehran, saying Britain's designation of Iran's armed forces and its support for U.S. and Israeli actions were unjustified. During a phone conversation with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, Araghchi argued that London's current approach has contributed to rising regional tensions and should be reconsidered.
According to Araghchi, the ongoing instability in the Middle East stems primarily from military actions carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran. He said Iran participated in diplomatic negotiations in good faith and reached a ceasefire memorandum on June 18, but claimed the United States later failed to honor its commitments, preventing the agreement from being implemented.
The Iranian foreign minister also reaffirmed Tehran's commitment to working with Oman to establish practical mechanisms for managing shipping transit through the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that interference by outside parties could further complicate regional security and maritime stability.
Referring to international law, Araghchi stated that allowing another country to use a nation's territory or facilities to launch an unlawful attack against a third country could be considered an act of aggression. He added that, under such circumstances, the targeted nation has the right to exercise legitimate self-defense.
In response, UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said Britain was not involved in the conflict with Iran and continues to believe that diplomacy is the best path for resolving disputes. He emphasized the importance of maintaining diplomatic engagement with Tehran to improve bilateral relations and help reduce tensions across the region.
