SAEDNEWS: Iran has entered the ongoing diplomatic process with seriousness and a responsible approach despite deep mistrust toward the United States, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, stressing that Tehran is seeking a rational and fair outcome to the talks.
According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated during a Friday night phone call with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres that recent diplomatic efforts aimed at ending what he described as a US-Israeli imposed war against Iran are facing serious obstacles.
During the conversation, the two officials reviewed regional and international developments, with particular attention to the situation in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Araghchi outlined the latest progress in diplomatic efforts and said that the United States’ record of failing to uphold commitments, repeated setbacks in diplomacy, military actions against Iran, inconsistent positions, and excessive demands have disrupted talks currently being mediated by Pakistan.
He emphasized, however, that despite Iran’s strong mistrust toward Washington, Tehran continues to engage in diplomatic efforts with full seriousness and responsibility in pursuit of a fair and reasonable outcome.
The discussion also included the ongoing Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in New York.
For his part, Guterres rejected the use of force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and stressed the importance of adhering to the UN Charter while pursuing diplomatic solutions to promote peace and stability in the region.
