Saed News: Images circulating of the US Secretary of State wearing sportswear while traveling to China with Trump aboard Air Force One have sparked widespread reactions on social media.
According to SAEDNEWS, the gray tracksuit worn by Marco Rubio during the trip to China on the US presidential aircraft is exactly the same “Nike Tech” model that Nicolás Maduro, the former president of Venezuela, was wearing when he was allegedly captured by US forces—an action that has sparked controversy.
Trump had previously posted an image of Maduro on social media showing him blindfolded and handcuffed while wearing the same outfit.
While many criticized the US Secretary of State for this behavior during a sensitive diplomatic trip to China, the White House supported the move by releasing a video of Rubio mocking Maduro shortly after his arrest.
Some media outlets and users described the act as unprofessional, childish, and unworthy of a foreign minister. Chinese media also described it as provocative, especially since Rubio had previously been sanctioned by China due to his political positions.
Trump is scheduled to arrive in Beijing today for a two-day visit to meet his Chinese counterpart. The trip takes place amid tensions over the Iran war, the Strait of Hormuz crisis, tariff disputes, and tensions over Taiwan.
