SAEDNEWS: The removal of sanctions and the formal recognition of Iran’s authority over the Strait of Hormuz are among the key issues scheduled for discussion.
According to the political desk of Saed News analytical outlet, Reuters reported on today’s negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan. The report states that Tehran’s agenda includes demands for significant concessions, notably the lifting of sanctions that have strained the country’s economy for years. It also calls for recognition of Iran’s authority over the Strait of Hormuz, where Tehran intends to impose transit fees on passing vessels and regulate access—an action that could signal a major shift in the regional balance of power.
On Friday, Iranian vessels were reportedly able to pass through the strait without obstruction, while ships from other countries continued to face restrictions.
