SAEDNEWS: An Iranian Air Force warplane crashed during a nighttime training mission in Hamedan Province, claiming the life of Colonel Mahdi Piroozmand, while the second pilot survived the incident.

On Thursday evening, a fighter jet of the Air Force took off from Nojeh Air Base for a nighttime training mission in Hamedan Province when it was involved in an incident. One of the pilots, Colonel Mahdi Piroozmand, was martyred, while the other pilot survived unharmed.

Hamzeh Amraei, Political and Security Deputy of the Hamedan Governor-General’s Office, said that a training aircraft had crashed in the Nobaran area and that rescue forces were immediately dispatched to the scene. He added that details of the incident are under investigation.

In a message released on Friday, Air Force Commander Brigadier General Bahman Behmard offered condolences over the martyrdom of the pilot.

The commander stated that the honorable martyrdom of the brave and committed pilot, who lost his life during a training mission while serving the security and strength of the Islamic homeland, caused deep sorrow and grief.

He further noted that the silent and selfless efforts of Air Force pilots in safeguarding the country’s secure skies represent golden chapters of sacrifice in the history of the nation, adding that the name and memory of the fallen pilot would remain eternal in the proud record of the defenders of the homeland.
