SAEDNEWS: Trump Again Claims Talks With Iran, While Simultaneously Issuing Threats
According to Saed News’ political desk, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed early Friday morning that he has been in contact with senior Iranian officials in recent days and intends to continue these communications.
Speaking to CBS News, Trump responded to reporters’ questions about whether contacts with Iranian officials had taken place and whether diplomatic efforts would continue, saying: “Yes, these contacts have happened, and I intend to continue them.”
He then quickly reverted to threats, claiming: “Right now, a lot of very large and powerful ships are moving toward Iran, and it would be great if we didn’t have to use them.”
Continuing his usual inflammatory remarks, Trump added: “I told them two things: first, no nuclear weapons. Second, stop killing protesters. … They have to do something.”
Trump’s claim of dialogue and consultations between Iranian and American officials comes amid earlier reports by the newspaper Israel Hayom, which alleged that a message had been sent from Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, to Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy for the Middle East.
According to this claim, “Witkoff presented Trump with a message from Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, along with a written guarantee from Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s president, in an effort to persuade Trump to delay a military attack.”
However, on Tuesday morning, Araghchi denied the report while speaking to journalists in the courtyard of the government headquarters, saying: “In recent days, there has been no contact between me and Mr. Witkoff, and we have not made any request for negotiations.” He added, however, that “intermediaries are active, and we are in contact with intermediaries.”
