SAEDNEWS: An Egyptian calligrapher has written the world’s longest Quran, measuring 700 meters in length and 50 by 70 centimeters in dimensions. It is the first Quran designed in an open format, eliminating the need to turn pages.
According to Saednews, The world’s longest Quran, measuring 700 meters in length and presented as continuous open pages, was handwritten by an Egyptian calligrapher.
Saad Mohammad Hamed Hashish, born in 1959, is the creator of this Quran. He has only five years of formal education. Speaking about his work, he said:
“I wrote this Quran over a period of three years on pages measuring 50 by 70 centimeters, creating a final length of 700 meters. It took approximately three years to complete. It is the first Quran written in an open, continuous format that does not require turning pages. This type is known as a ‘moving Quran.’”
He appealed to Egyptian officials for support so that he could have the book registered in the Guinness World Records.
Mohammad added: “Turkey has so far produced 30 moving Qurans with a total length of 217 meters. However, I wrote this Quran to a length of 700 meters using my own personal resources, and I plan to build a glass enclosure to protect and preserve it.”
Describing his method of writing the Quran, he said: “While writing the Quranic verses, I would sit on my knees for many hours each day. As a result, my knees developed calluses.”
