SAEDNEWS: Hezbollah Chief Reaffirms Resistance as Key to Ending Israeli Occupation of Lebanon

Hezbollah Chief: Resistance Is Essential to Free Lebanon from Occupation

According to Saednews, In a statement issued on Wednesday addressing political developments in Lebanon and the wider region, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem said resistance remained essential to liberating Lebanese territory, arguing that without it, Israel would have expanded its control over the country.

Qassem rejected a US-sponsored framework agreement between Beirut and Tel Aviv, describing it as illegitimate and unconstitutional. He ruled out disarming Hezbollah while Israeli occupation and attacks against Lebanon continue.

“There is no room for discussion about disarming the resistance as long as the occupation exists and its aggression continues,” he said, warning that Hezbollah would confront any aggression targeting the group or Lebanon.

The proposed framework calls for a phased Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, alongside Hezbollah’s disarmament before the withdrawal is completed.

Describing the agreement as “null and void,” Qassem argued that it granted Israel concessions it had not earned and weakened Lebanon’s sources of strength.

The Hezbollah chief renewed his demand for Israeli forces to withdraw from Lebanese territory and called on the Lebanese army to deploy south of the Litani River.

He noted that Israel had repeatedly violated agreements, using them to advance its expansion and reignite hostilities.

Qassem warned that “surrender and concessions” would leave Lebanon with nothing, reiterating that resistance remained necessary to liberate the country’s territory.

Reaffirming Hezbollah’s commitment to national unity, he said the group was ready to help bridge political divisions and reach common ground with other Lebanese political forces.

He stressed, however, that unity must be translated into practical action. He added that Hezbollah’s ties with the Amal Movement and other allies remained strong on issues such as national sovereignty and support for the Lebanese army.

Qassem also called for an end to US interference in Lebanon’s domestic affairs, describing Washington’s political pressure and influence over state institutions as violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

Despite the agreement between Israel and Lebanon, Israeli forces continue to conduct airstrikes in southern Lebanon and maintain control over Lebanese territory. Some areas have remained under Israeli occupation for years, while others were captured during the latest war.

Hezbollah has pledged to expel Israeli occupation forces from southern Lebanon, warning the Lebanese government that yielding to US demands would put the country at risk and undermine its sovereignty.
