Discovery of 15 Buckets of Human Body Parts in a Pistachio Orchard in Anar Causes Shock – What Happened?

According to SAEDNEWS, quoting the IRIB Kerman Center, Dr. Taghipour stated that the incident dates back to December 6th of this year. The head of Police Station 11 in Aminshahr reported the discovery of 15 buckets containing unusable human body parts (removed during surgeries and meant for burial) in a pistachio orchard owned by a farmer in Anar.He added that, following coordination with the prosecutor, the police chief, and the head of the health and treatment network, these remains were transferred to the cold storage facility of Vali-Asr Hospital in Anar.

The director of the Anar Health Network clarified that investigations revealed the buckets contained samples of various tissues intended for pathology labs. These buckets were unrelated to the hospitals in Anar or Rafsanjan counties.

Taghipour stated that the human remains were from patients who had undergone surgeries at a hospital outside the jurisdiction of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences. The samples had been sent to a pathology laboratory affiliated with the respective university for examination. He emphasized that this matter has no connection whatsoever to Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences or the Health and Treatment Network of Anar County.

He added that typically, surgically removed and unusable human body parts are disposed of through a legal and sanitary burial process in a designated location. However, an individual from Anar, who worked at a laboratory in Kerman, unlawfully and irresponsibly buried these remains in his agricultural orchard in the Golshan area. The remains were discovered by a worker during routine tasks, leading to the involvement of the prosecutor's office and law enforcement authorities.

Taghipour explained that, considering the potential distress and public sensitivity surrounding the issue, and the need to protect patient confidentiality, it was decided to inform the honorable people of Anar only after completing a thorough investigation and obtaining definitive results. Unfortunately, the matter was publicized prematurely.
