SAEDNEWS: The death of Brigadier General Pilot Majid Kazemi, one of the courageous Su-24 fighter pilots of the Iranian Army Air Force, has been officially confirmed. According to the announcement, his status has been verified, confirming that he was killed in the line of duty.
According to Saednews, The Public Relations Office of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran Announced, DNA testing and specialized forensic examinations have confirmed the death of Brigadier General (Second Rank) Pilot Majid Kazemi, one of the pilots of an Iranian Su-24 fighter-bomber who went missing following an operation carried out on March 1 of last year (11 Esfand in the Iranian calendar).
The statement says that Kazemi's remains, after being away from Iran for several months, are expected to return to the country within the next few hours.
The army added that efforts are still underway to determine the fate of the three remaining crew members from the two Su-24 aircraft involved in the mission. Authorities said they will provide additional updates as soon as further verified information becomes available. Details regarding the funeral and burial ceremonies for Brigadier General Kazemi will also be announced later.
According to the statement, on March 1 of last year, two Su-24 bombers of the Iranian Air Force allegedly took off from Shahid Doran Air Base in Shiraz in response to what Iran described as attacks by the U.S. military and Israel. The statement claims the aircraft penetrated enemy surveillance and radar defenses before carrying out an airstrike on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which hosts U.S. forces.
The army further claimed that the attack caused significant damage to the base. It stated that, during the return flight, the aircraft were hit by enemy air defense systems over the Persian Gulf. Since then, authorities say efforts have continued to determine the status of the missing pilots.
