SAEDNEWS: Woman Who Keeps Around 500 Cats and Dogs at Home Says the Animals Helped Her Overcome Depression
According to Saed News, citing Nashan news agency, a woman in Muscat, the capital of Oman, despite complaints from neighbors and high expenses, keeps 480 cats and 12 dogs.

Mariam Al Balushi considers pets to be better companions than humans and says that cats and dogs are more loyal than people. Over the past decade, this Omani woman has dedicated herself to raising and caring for pets.

She spends about $7,800 per month on the care of her cats and dogs. Of the approximately 490 cats and dogs she keeps, 17 animals are blind. Her house is filled with cages.
Al Balushi, a 51-year-old retired employee, says it all began in 2008 when her son bought a small Persian cat.

At first, she refused to take care of the cat because she did not like animals and her son did not pay much attention to it either. However, two years later everything changed. She suddenly found herself deeply involved and began caring for the cat—feeding it, bathing it, and spending a lot of time with it.

She says these animals helped her overcome depression and also brought her a large following on social media.
