According to SAEDNEWS, citing Zoomit, the new ad from Denza, the luxury sub-brand of BYD, featuring Daniel Craig, the former James Bond actor, has created significant controversy. In the video, Craig sits behind the wheel of the Denza Z9GT, portraying the slogan “Everything is changing.”

BYD is trying to strengthen Denza’s position in global markets by using the well-known James Bond figure. In the video description it states: “To change or not to change is never the real question; this video is a look at progress in its purest form.”

The BYD advertisement received mixed reactions on social media. Some European users expressed surprise or even dissatisfaction at the appearance of James Bond in an advertisement for a Chinese car. One user wrote: “How can a British spy trust a Chinese car with all this technology?”

In contrast, another group described the ad as successful and intelligent. One user praised China’s superiority in the electric vehicle industry and said that even Chinese advertisements have become more attractive than Western brands.

Some analyses suggest that BYD is deliberately using European cultural symbols such as James Bond to gain the trust of Western customers. According to observers, the negative reaction from part of the audience is natural, as many have not yet adapted to the new reality of the automotive market, where Chinese brands are directly competing with traditional Western automakers.
