SAEDNEWS: The United States Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani and a number of commanders.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a statement on Thursday evening, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the United States imposed sanctions on Larijani and a number of commanders due to what the Treasury Department called a support for Iranians and human rights.
He reiterated the claim of US officials to support the Iranian people.
The unrest gripped a number of Iranian cities last week, after foreign-backed elements and terrorists hijacked economic protests and mixed in with the ordinary citizens to kill civilians and security forces, as well as to destroy public property.
Evidence on the ground and anti-Iran rhetoric cited by mainstream Western media show the US and the Israeli regime hatched the sinister plot under the pretext of economic discontent, bringing trained mercenaries into Iran to create unrest and rioting.
The Iranian people staged nationwide rallies on Monday to protest against recent riots and acts of terrorism which led to dozens of fatalities across the country.
