SAEDNEWS: A Syrian Bovines Farm Reports the Birth of a Strange Lamb to the Regional Veterinary Office
According to the Saed News community service, citing Fars News Agency, a lamb with eight legs was born last night at the farm of a resident of Suryan, Bavanat. A veterinary expert was present at the site.
Ali Mousavi explained that the primary cause of such births is genetic. However, the use of incorrect or substandard drugs, exposure to harmful radiation, magnetic energy, and inbreeding can also contribute to these unusual cases.
He added that the lamb, born with eight limbs, displayed physiological traits of both male and female genders. It is considered an incomplete, conjoined twin that did not fully develop.
Mousavi also reported that the mother sheep had to be slaughtered due to complications during delivery. He emphasized that special care should be taken when administering medication to livestock to reduce the likelihood of such births.
In shepherds’ culture, the birth of twin lambs is considered inauspicious, and farmers generally prefer single or triplet births.
