SAEDNEWS: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that while Tehran remains ready for talks with Washington, the current US policies make it an unsuitable time for negotiations.
Speaking to reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that Iran has never left the negotiating table and remains ready for dialogue based on mutual interests and mutual respect. However, he noted that the current US administration does not pursue such an approach.
The minister also referred to his upcoming visit to Lebanon, saying the trip aims to expand bilateral relations. The Iranian government seeks to strengthen ties with all Lebanese institutions as well as the Lebanese government, and this objective is shared by both sides.
Araghchi added that an economic delegation will accompany him on the visit to examine trade and commercial opportunities. He expressed hope that this will lead to strong and sustainable cooperation in the future.
Regarding domestic developments, Araghchi stressed that Iran’s internal affairs are the exclusive concern of the Iranian people. In response to foreign comments on domestic protests, he said no foreign government has any authority or jurisdiction over Iran’s internal matters. He added that Iranian officials are confident that the government and the people will resolve any remaining issues peacefully.
He also pointed to the Foreign Ministry’s economic diplomacy efforts, describing the department responsible for this field as the most active branch of the ministry. According to Araghchi, officials are working intensively to promote trade and economic cooperation, particularly with neighboring countries.
He explained that the ministry’s provincial diplomacy program seeks to identify regional economic capacities and link them with nearby markets.
Araghchi concluded by emphasizing Iran’s significant untapped economic potential, both domestically and across the region. He reaffirmed that alongside expanding economic relations, the ministry continues efforts to remove sanctions whenever possible, while safeguarding national dignity.
