SAEDNEWS: Classic car fans, take a closer look at the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. From the hidden fuel cap to the gleaming console and roaring V8, this red beauty is more than a car—it’s a moving work of art that still rules the streets.
According to the technology section of SaedNews, a humanoid robot dressed in a police uniform has been stationed at a busy intersection in Shanghai’s high-traffic Huangpu district, attracting the attention of both drivers and pedestrians.
In this trial demonstration, the robot, wearing a large helmet and a prominent outfit equipped with LED lights and reflective yellow fabric, issued loud instructions to pedestrians, such as “The light is red, please stop,” while using hand gestures to guide their crossing.
The robot’s vocal commands and movements are modeled on traditional traffic control methods used by Chinese police.
Nicknamed “Xiao Hu,” meaning “Little Tiger,” the robot is currently in the testing phase and has not yet been officially integrated into the city’s traffic management system.
Beyond directing traffic, the robot can also show pedestrians the way and answer basic questions about driving regulations.
Development of the robot took four years, and it remains in experimental testing. Officials have expressed hope that, in the future, such robots could replace human officers in high-traffic areas or at major events.
