SAEDNEWS: Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song ‘Espresso’ is trending on billboards.
According to SAEDNEWS, Sabrina Carpenter is on cloud nine as her chart-topping single "Espresso" has officially hit an impressive milestone of 1 billion streams on Spotify.
In a joyous announcement on her Instagram story this past Wednesday, the talented singer expressed her excitement, exclaiming, “Holy!! Thank you for streaming.” The synth-pop anthem, which debuted in April 2024, is a preview of her highly anticipated album, Short n' Sweet*, and it has already climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
The infectious track boasts a vibrant energy and was directed by renowned filmmaker Dave Meyers. Carpenter co-wrote the song alongside a talented team, including Julian Bunetta, Amy Allen, and Stephan Jones.
In "Espresso," Sabrina cleverly draws a parallel between herself and coffee, infusing the lyrics with her signature ‘twisted humor’ and alluding to the way she lingers in someone's thoughts at night, saying, “Now he's thinkin' 'bout me every night, oh/ Is it that sweet? I guess so/ Say you can't sleep, baby, I know/ That's that me espresso.”
While fans speculate that the lyrics might be directed at her rumored beau Barry Keoghan, Sabrina has played coy, stating, “It feels easier to write about things that happened in the past or that haven’t happened yet.” She further elaborated on the creative process, revealing that delays in songwriting often stem from her tendency to revisit emotions tied to past relationships. “My producers tell me I’m beating a dead horse because I’ll write a song three years after I last spoke to the person who inspired the lyric,” she shared.
For those who might not be aware, Sabrina and Barry first sparked dating rumors in late 2023, and they confirmed their relationship in February 2024.
Fans can look forward to more of Sabrina's artistry as her album Short n' Sweet is set to be released on August 23, 2024. Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting new chapter for this talented artist!
