SAEDNEWS: Iran defeated the Maldives in straight sets (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) in the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League on Saturday.
According to SAEDNEWS, The Iranians began their campaign with a 3-1 defeat against India but bounced back to secure a 3-2 victory over Sri Lanka, as reported by Tehran Times.
Team Melli is set to face the host nation, Nepal, on Sunday.
The tournament commenced on August 1 at the National Sports Council in Kathmandu, Nepal.
In accordance with the competition format, all five participating teams will compete in a single round-robin format, with rankings determined based on their performances. The team that finishes in last place will be eliminated from the tournament.
The top four teams will move on to the cross semifinals on August 6, where the first-place team will take on the fourth-place team, and the second-place team will face the third-place team. The winners of these matches will then vie for the championship title on August 7.
