Sara Shahi, a descendant of Fath-Ali Shah Qajar, one of the Qajar kings of 19th-century Iran, was born to Iranian parents named Abbas and Mah Monir Jahansuz Shahi. She has a sister named Samanta (a production assistant) and a brother named Hooman.

Sara Shahi was born on January 10, 1980, as Ahu Jahansuz Shahi in Euless, Texas, USA, where she was raised. She is the daughter of Abbas Jahansuz Shahi and Mah Monir Soroushzadeh, an interior designer, who divorced when she was ten years old. Her father’s family left Iran two years before the 1979 revolution.

Ahu Jahansuz Shahi, professionally known as Sara Shahi, is an American actress. Throughout her career, she has appeared in works such as The Lex (2008), Fairly Legal (2011–2012), and The L Word (2012–2016).

Shahi ranked 90th in Maxim magazine’s 2005 list of the 100 Most Beautiful Women, rising to 66th in 2006. In 2012, she ranked 36th on this list. She was also a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys team.

On her father’s instruction, she was raised speaking both English and Persian. Her parents began entering her in beauty pageants from the age of eight. She achieved 90th rank in Maxim’s 2005 list and improved to 66th in 2006.

In 2009, she married the well-known actor Steve Howey, and they have a son named William Wolf Howey. Unfortunately, they separated in 2020.

Sara Shahi has acted in several TV series, including the role of Jenny in Alias (2001), Sadia Shaw in Dawson’s Creek (1998), and appearances in The L Word (2004). She was also the first spirit in the 2005 supernatural series Supernatural.

She gained fame for her role in The L Word and appeared in its second season but did not renew her contract for the fourth season, leading to the removal of her character from the script. In 1999, she appeared in an episode of The Sopranos as Sonia Aragon, a dancer and college student. Although many sources do not mention it, Sara acted in Jackie Chan’s 2007 film Rush Hour 3. She appeared on NBC alongside Damian Lewis and has acted in several Hollywood movies and many other TV series.

Sara is fluent in English and Persian, with some knowledge of Spanish, and holds a brown belt in karate.
