SAEDNEWS: AI startup Anthropic said on Friday it will triple its international staff and expand its applied AI team fivefold this year, driven by rising global demand for its Claude models outside the United States.
Nearly 80% of Claude’s user activity now comes from international markets, with per-person usage in South Korea, Australia, and Singapore surpassing that of the United States. This surge reflects Claude’s growing influence as a cutting-edge AI assistant trusted by enterprises worldwide.
Anthropic, valued at $183 billion and backed by tech giants Alphabet and Amazon, has built a reputation for AI systems that excel in coding and complex problem-solving. Its Claude large language models are considered among the most powerful frontier AI models available today, driving rapid growth: the company expanded its enterprise customer base from fewer than 1,000 to over 300,000 in just two years.
Revenue has followed this meteoric rise, with run-rate figures exceeding $5 billion by August—up from roughly $1 billion at the start of the year. To meet soaring demand, Anthropic plans to create more than 100 new positions across Dublin, London, and Zurich, while opening its first Asian office in Tokyo, alongside additional European locations.
Leading this expansion is Chris Ciauri, recently appointed Managing Director of International, following Paul Smith’s transition to Chief Commercial Officer. “The global demand for Claude is extraordinary—from financial services in London to manufacturing in Tokyo, enterprises are trusting Claude to power their mission-critical operations,” Ciauri noted.
Further cementing Claude’s position in the enterprise AI market, Microsoft recently signed a deal to integrate Claude into its Copilot assistant, signaling a strategic shift for the tool that previously relied primarily on OpenAI systems.
