SAEDNEWS: The design of the "Gol Yakh Hotel," located at the Shemshak ski resort, features a bone-like appearance and a curved structure, specifically designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings.
According to SAEDNEWS, numerous buildings are constructed each year in the city that closely resemble those built before, with only minor creative changes, such as a curved wall. However, these buildings often lack visual appeal and, in some cases, make the urban landscape look unattractive. On rare occasions, buildings are designed with both practical benefits and a striking, beautiful appearance, making that area of the city stand out. Many of these buildings become popular spots for visitors and photographers, drawing attention. One such example is the "Gol Yakh Hotel" at the Shemshak ski resort.
Gol Yakh Hotel is located at the Shemshak Ski Resort in Tehran Province and is also known as the Barin Ski Resort. Situated on a 5,000-square-meter plot with a usable area of 5,700 square meters, the hotel is nestled within the Shemshak area. The complex features 10 floors, with 7 residential floors and 3 parking levels, offering 66 residential units ranging from 48 to 313 square meters, as well as 65 parking spaces.
What makes a building's architecture truly special is its comprehensive approach, considering its geographical location and climate. The architects of Barin Hotel took full advantage of this concept, aiming to create a deep connection between nature and architecture. By the time the architects began working on the project, the main structure was already in place.
The hotel's original structure and roof were initially designed as a classic cube, but the architects felt that the rectangular shape clashed with the natural, sloping terrain of the mountains. The building’s bone-like appearance and curved design were intentionally created to blend harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. The interior of the Barin Resort is also reminiscent of an Eskimo house, making it a unique architectural marvel among Iran's mountain hotels.
Gol Yakh Hotel won second place in the architecture, building, and structural design categories at the 2011 Chicago Architecture Awards. The architects of Barin Hotel drew inspiration from Eskimo cabins for the design of this 10-story structure, which is why it’s also known as the Eskimo Hotel of Shemshak. The white, porous exterior of the hotel evokes a bone-like texture, much like the futuristic buildings seen in science fiction films.
Shemshak is a popular tourist destination, especially for snow lovers and skiers who come to enjoy its beautiful scenery and the Shemshak ski resort. Gol Yakh Hotel is located in Jirud Shemshak, just a half-hour drive from Tehran. This privately owned property allows guests to either purchase a unit or rent one on an annual basis.
