SAEDNEWS: In the wake of the U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, former Housing Minister Abbas Akhoundi cautioned against hasty retaliation, urging the nation to await the decisive word of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to Saed News, Abbas Akhoundi, former Minister of Roads and Urban Development under President Rouhani, broke his silence following the U.S. military assault on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, calling the situation a direct threat to the nation’s survival.
“Iran, our beloved homeland, is now confronting an existential danger,” Akhoundi posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Any rushed action could intensify this peril. Let us wait for the guidance and decision of Ayatollah Khamenei.”
His statement follows an unprecedented escalation, as President Donald Trump announced the destruction of three major nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. While international observers debate the legality and long-term fallout of the strikes, Akhoundi’s comments struck a chord of sober reflection amid rising tensions.
Quoting the Persian poet Hafez, Akhoundi concluded:
