According to Saednews, A sandwich is one of the most popular foods in the world. It consists of ingredients such as meat, chicken, vegetables, cheese, and more placed between two slices of bread. The concept is often attributed to John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, in the 18th century. Because sandwiches are simple, versatile, and quick to prepare, they are widely loved. They are also convenient for travel, picnics, parks, amusement parks, and similar outings.

Sandwiches can be served hot or cold and prepared with chicken, meat, vegetables, cutlets, burgers, kebabs, and many other fillings. One popular variation is the Syrian falafel sandwich, a flavorful Middle Eastern dish similar to traditional falafel, but made with green peas instead of chickpeas. It is often served with a special sauce and fresh toppings.

Ingredients for Syrian Falafel

  • Green peas (raw): 300 g

  • Medium onion: 1

  • Garlic: 2 cloves

  • Small egg: 1

  • Wheat flour: 3 tablespoons

  • Salt, black pepper, red pepper, garlic powder, turmeric, cumin: as needed

  • Fried sliced eggplant: as desired

  • Fried French fries: as desired

  • Pita bread: as needed

  • Tomato and pickles: as needed

  • Oil for frying: as needed

Yogurt Sauce Ingredients

  • Thick yogurt: 3 tablespoons

  • Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons

  • Tahini: 1 tablespoon

  • Mayonnaise: 1 tablespoon

  • Salt: as needed

Preparation Method

1. Prepare the mixture

Blend green peas with onion and garlic in a food processor until completely smooth.

2. Make the batter

Transfer the mixture to a bowl. Add egg, flour, salt, pepper, spices, and mix well until fully combined. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

3. Fry the falafel

Heat oil in a deep pan. Shape the mixture into small balls (about the size of a small mandarin). Fry them over medium heat until golden brown and crisp on all sides.

4. Prepare the sauce

Mix yogurt, mayonnaise, tahini, lemon juice, and salt until smooth and creamy.

5. Assemble the sandwich

Open a pita bread gently. Spread the sauce inside, add 2–3 falafel pieces, fried eggplant, fries, tomato slices, and pickles. Wrap the sandwich carefully and serve.
