Saed News: Eight Islamic countries described Itamar Ben-Gvir’s treatment of “Sumud Flotilla” activists as shameful and a violation of human dignity.
According to SAEDNEWS, eight Arab and Islamic countries issued a joint statement strongly condemning the mistreatment and humiliation of detained activists from the “Global Sumud Flotilla” by Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National Security, calling it a blatant violation of human dignity.
The statement was issued by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia.
Ben-Gvir, an extremist minister of the Israeli regime, on Wednesday released a video showing the detention of Sumud Flotilla activists—who were heading to Gaza to break the blockade. In the footage, the activists appear handcuffed, forced to kneel, and made to listen to the Israeli national anthem, accompanied by provocative behavior and insulting remarks from the Israeli security minister.
The release of the video sparked widespread international outrage, leading several countries including Spain, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, and Australia to summon Israeli diplomats in protest.
The foreign ministers of the signatory countries described Ben-Gvir’s actions as “horrific, degrading, and unacceptable,” emphasizing that these deliberate and public acts constitute a clear violation of Israel’s legal obligations under international law.
The statement also added that Ben-Gvir’s provocative behavior not only fuels hatred and extremism but also represents a major obstacle to diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
The eight countries concluded by calling for Ben-Gvir to be held accountable and legally prosecuted, while demanding an immediate halt to such provocative actions and full adherence by the occupying regime to human rights standards and humane treatment of detainees in Palestinian territories.
