SAEDNEWS: Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Alireza Mohmadi claimed a silver medal in the 2024 Olympic Games on Thursday night.
According to SAEDNEWS: In the 87kg final, Mohmadi faced off against Bulgarian wrestler Semen Novikov but sadly fell short, losing with a score of 7-0.
However, the Iranian wrestling team has had a remarkable showing overall, with Mohammadhadi Saravi (97kg) and Saeid Esmaeili (67kg) each securing gold medals in their respective categories. Additionally, Amin Mirzazadh contributed to the team’s success by claiming a bronze medal in the 130kg class.
Greco-Roman wrestling has held a prestigious place in Olympic history, first featured in the inaugural modern Games in Athens in 1896. It became a permanent part of the Olympic program in 1908, continuing to showcase the strength and skill of athletes from around the world.
