A Trip To The Luxurious Palace of Nasser Al-Din Shah's Son-In-Law In The Shemiran Region, Featuring Unique and Expensive Architecture

According to SAEDNEWS, the building of the Bagh Ferdows mansion was one of the most luxurious palaces in Iran during its time. The construction of this mansion was started by Hossein Ali Khan Moayer ol-Molk during the reign of Mohammad Shah Qajar.

Moayer ol-Molk, who was responsible for the treasury and minting during the reigns of Mohammad Shah and Nasser al-Din Shah, was the first Iranian to open an account outside of Iran, at the Royal Bank of Britain, and transferred much of his wealth into that account.

The Bagh Ferdows mansion was further expanded and became more luxurious during the time of Hossein Ali Khan's son, Dost Ali Khan Moayer ol-Molk. Dost Ali Khan added sections to the building where high-quality marble staircases were installed, and the walls of the rooms were covered with embossed golden wallpaper.

The photos you see here were likely taken by Antoine Sorogine in the late Qajar period or early Pahlavi period. By this time, the mansion had become abandoned and was deteriorating, and in one of the photos, you can see some signs of this damage.

However, in these photos, which are probably about 100 years old, you can see how different the surroundings of the mansion were compared to today, and the lush landscape that was once in front of it.

In 1937, the Ministry of Education purchased and renovated this building. In the 1950s, it was turned into a cultural and exhibition center.
